‘Slice Fore Life’ golf benefit raises $11,000 for healthcare PDF Print E-mail

The second annual “Slice Fore Life” golf benefit, sponsored by the Chase County Hospital Foundation, raised $11,000 to help boost healthcare in the area.
The event was held at the Enders Lake Golf Course Saturday.
Funds raised at the benefit provide the kick-off for a new initiative called “Campaign for Life.”
The “Campaign for Life” program is focused on raising funds to acquire specialized equipment for the Chase County Community Hospital healthcare system.
Specific areas targeted are digital mammography and urology equipment that will provide for the treatment of prostate cancer and other health issues.

16 teams compete
A total of 16 four-golfer teams participated in the benefit.
First Bank and Trust fielded the winning team in the first (championship) flight with an 18-hole score of 63. Team members included Ryan Richmond, Curt Richmond, Josh Fries and Gabe Fries.
The Pinnacle Bank team and the Jones team tied for second and third with a score of 64.
Members of the Pinnacle Bank team included Jason Burke, Whitney Paisley and Garret and Jacci Paisley.
The Jones team included Jake Jones, Eron Kitt, Tyson Bardsley and Tanner Bardsley.
Burke also took home the signature prize of the event—$777. Each year, the foundation gives away $777 for the golfer coming the closet to the pin on the seventh hole.
Burke’s ball was just seven feet six inches from the hole to capture the prize.
In the second flight, the combined team of Harchelroad Motors and Radiology Services took first with a score of 68.
Doug Mitchell and Troy Space represented Harchelroad Motors while Bob and Tammy Weber played for Radiology Services.
Taking second place honors with a 69 was the Pivot Electric team of Eric McDaniel, Matt Skomp, George Hallett and Dan Jones.
A tie for third in this flight, with a score of 70, was the Lee Kunnemann team of Alan Carman, Joni Carman, Dave Parker and Lee Kunnemann and the Barry Marshall team of Brandy Hanes, Tami Bartels, Mike Nesbitt and Barry Marshall.
In the third flight, the Weiss Guys team of Joe Weiss, Jeannie Bauerle, Dori Regier and Jerry Wood earned first place with a score of 71.
Taking second place with a 73 was the Ray Lindekugel team of Bob Bartels, Sandra Reinke and Alice and Ray Lindekugel.
Rounding out the third spot was the Adams Bank & Trust team with a score of 75. Team members included Tyson and Amanda McGreer, Sara Himrich and Dave Vapenik.
After the golf, golfers enjoyed a prime rib dinner followed by a charity auction. The auction netted just over $3,100.
“Overall, we were very pleased with the event,” said Randy Vlasin, executive director of the Chase County Hospital Foundation.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who golfed, the Chase County Community Hospital Auxiliary, volunteers that helped with this event and especially the sponsors of both the benefit and auction items,” he said.
“Our sponsors gave outstanding support which I know is challenging during these uncertain economic times,” he added.
Vlasin said that without sponsors, the event wouldn’t work and the foundation greatly appreciates their support in helping to achieve its goals.
