Snow forced the cancellation of the Bridgeport invite Monday so the varsity played in the Sutherland invite Tuesday in final preparation for next Monday’s district meet.
Coach Larry Munger had planned to send the jayvees to Sutherland. However, after getting snowed out Monday, he opted to send the varsity to Sutherland to complete the regular season.
Now the focus shifts to the C-5 District meet at McCook’s Heritage Hills Golf Course Monday.
Munger said the district was scheduled to be played at Cambridge. However, issues with greens there forced the relocation of the meet top McCook.
The teams will play a practice round Sunday to tune up for Monday. Tee-off is set for 8 a.m. MT.
Fourteen teams will compete in the meet. They include:
Ainsworth, Arcadia/Loup City, Bayard, Bridgeport, Cambridge, Chase County, Gordon-Rushville, Hershey, Kearney Catholic, Kimball, Mitchell, North Platte St. Patrick’s, Southern Valley and Valentine.
On May 5, the Longhorns finished fourth at the Creek Valley invite at Chappell and fourth at the Kimball invite May 11.
Darin Knobbe and Tyler Jennings led the team with fourth and fifth place finishes respectively at Creek Valley.
Knobbe shot 42-38 for an 80 while Jennings went 43-38.
Other Longhorn scores included Nolan Spady with a 100 on rounds of 49-51, Rabecca Huicochea with a 103 on round of 51-52 and Cade Francis with a 117 on a 60-57.
The team finished fourth with a 364. Bridgeport won the meet with a 333.
At Kimball, Knobbe finished with an 82 on the 18-hole course to finish third. Jennings was ninth with an 88.
Spady shot a 102, Francis a 107 and Huicochea with a 108.
