The study of ancient Greece turned into a Chase County Schools sixth grade Olympics recently.
The social studies class included the study of the Olympics in its curriculum.
As a closing activity, a mini Olympics was held, including the shot put, javelin and curling. The total scores were combined in a triathlon score.
Teacher Dennis Batterman noted that the shot put involved bean bags, the javelins were made of straw and the curling used base 10 blocks.
The winners included:
Shot put—gold, Cedric Maxwell; silver, Kambree Meeske; bronze, Tanner Roenfeldt;
Curling—gold, Chase Rowley; silver, Halle Fiedler; bronze, Lindsey Mendenhall;
Javelin—gold, Kenyan Biesecker; silver, Jordan Hopp; bronze, Courtney Odens;
Triathlon—gold, Cedric Maxwell; silver, Charles Barnes; bronze, Sydney Schilke.
