A theft in Ogallala the same night as several in Imperial appears to involve the same suspects, according to Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller.
In a report late last week, Mueller said he received word from the Ogallala Police Department about the theft of tires and rims from a vehicle parked at Schmidt Motors body shop. The loss there totaled an estimated $2,800.
It happened the same night (overnight April 19-20) as a series of thefts here that included three four-wheelers from Dwight Lindskov’s residence, a car trailer from Rodger Hamilton and a pickup belonging to Jeff Wallin.
Value of the losses here were estimated at $23,000. Except for recovery of the pickup, minus its tires and battery, there have been no leads in the other thefts here, Mueller said.
He believes the suspects likely headed to Ogallala after stealing the vehicles and trailer here, then to Sidney, where Wallin’s abandoned pickup was found by the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office.
