St. Pat’s makes progress on church hall PDF Print E-mail
The empty lot between 7th and 8th Sts., on Broadway has seen a lot of activity in recent days, as progress is made on construction of St. Patrick Catholic Church’s new parish hall. The digging of footings started Monday and continued Tuesday, above, as workers in short sleeves took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather. Weather-permitting, it’s hoped the digging of footings can be completed this week. The project was slowed a bit when workers discovered a partial basement early this week in the northwest part of the lot, where reportedly a house once stood further north of the house moved off the lot several years ago. That basement had to be dug out for the work on footings to continue. Some additional soil testing will be done and steel will be laid before cement is poured. The parish hall will be an 80 x 80-foot structure housing a 50 x 50-foot fellowship area that will seat 200, three classrooms, a meeting room, large kitchen, restrooms and a storage area. C & S Construction of Madrid is general contractor on the project. (Republican photo)
