Youths compete in 4-H speech, music contest PDF Print E-mail

Thirteen 4-H members, presenting 27 entries, received ribbons at the Chase County Public Speaking and Music Contest held last week.
Through the 4-H Public Speaking Contest, youths have an opportunity to write a speech or a Public Service Announcement (PSA) that incorporates the topic of 4-H and deliver it to an audience.
The contest allows youths to communicate about current issues to real audiences, learn how to organize, prepare and deliver a speech, learn how to present themselves to others and develop self-confidence.
In Chase County, 4-H members also have the option to prepare and perform a vocal or instrumental piece for the contest.
Nine participants are eligible to advance to the Regional 4-H Public Speaking/PSA Contest to be held in North Platte on April 25.
