Great Western Trail group gathering next week for annual dinner meeting PDF Print E-mail

“What is an ox?”  Is that a question that stimulates your curiosity?
The answer will be given when the Great Western Cattle Trail Association of Nebraska (GWCT-N) holds its annual meeting March 24 in Wauneta at the Senior Center.
The dinner starts at 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per plate.
Loren Pospisil, curator at Chimney Rock Visitors Center, will answer the question, “What is an ox?”
This is a common question posed by visitors at Chimney Rock.  Few animals have had a larger role in the development of the American West. However, these engines of empire are rarely given the credit due them.  Pospisil will show the impact these animals had on history.
During the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m., an update will be given as to the location of Great Western Cattle Trail markers, officers will be elected and a discussion will be held concerning the potential National Park designation of the Great Western Trail as an historical event.
The dinner and meeting are open to the public.
