ICC golf course clubhouse getting new look

Things just aren’t the same at the Imperial Country Club (ICC) clubhouse. As a matter of fact, they’re about to get much better.
For about a month volunteers have been basically gutting the clubhouse, removing a wall to open up the room, removing the dropped ceiling, enclosing the former porch with windows, and removing flooring.
Contractor Brian Einspahr was hired to drywall the room and to build a new, enlarged L-shaped bar using part of the old bar as a base.
Michal Swanson, president of the ICC board, said plans are to have the clubhouse “at least usable” by the time the golf season really begins in a month, “at least the bar and tables so we can entertain.”
Volunteers will also be called to do other small projects down the road, Swanson said, such as painting.
Board Treasurer Mary Wilson said the cost of the project will be about $17,000. “The more volunteers we get the less we have to spend.”
ICC will host a grand re-opening May 8 to show off the remodeled clubhouse and to promote new services.
