Anyone interested in the baseball and softball programs sponsored by the city of Imperial is invited to a meeting of the Imperial Baseball/Softball Association (IBSA) next week.
Brad Moline of the IBSA said the meeting is set for Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers.
Parents and other adults interested in the baseball and softball programs being organized for 2015 should attend, he said, especially those interested in coaching.
Topics to be discussed include teams and coaches for the various age levels, as well as overall organization for the 2015 programs, Moline said.
Regarding Legion baseball, Moline noted that Imperial Legion baseball teams will be competing in a new league this summer, the Mid-Nebraska Baseball League.
Imperial will play in the league’s west division. Other western division teams include Ogallala, McCook, Holdrege, Cozad, Gothenburg and Broken Bow.
Eastern division teams include Shelton/Gibbon, Minden, St. Paul, Kearney, Central City, Aurora and York.
League play will begin in late May and be completed by mid-July.
It’s expected, he said, that Imperial will field both a junior and senior Legion team this summer.
Imperial has also been selected to host the Junior Legion District Tournament in July.
