SPVA represented by Sutherland, Bridgeport in boys’ state tourney PDF Print E-mail

The SPVA conference will be represented by Bridgeport and Sutherland in the boys’ state tournament that begins in Lincoln today (Thursday).
Bridgeport (23-4) goes in as the No. 4 seed in C2 and will face No. 5 seed Battle Creek, (21-5).
In Class D1, Sutherland (11-13) goes in as the No. 8 seed and will face top-seeded BDS (Bruning-Davenport) (24-3) in the first round.
Chase County opponent Southern Valley (22-4) fell to Bridgeport in the district final but got in as a wildcard. They go in as the No. 3 seed and will play sixth-seeded Archbishop Bergan (Fremont) (18-6).
Chadron (18-7) went on to win the C1-6 district championship after defeating Chase County in the subdistrict final.
They defeated Ainsworth in the district final and go into the tournament as the No. 6 seed with an 18-7 mark. They will play No. 3 seed Grand Island Central Catholic (22-5).
In Class D2, No. 6 Paxton (23-2) will face another western Nebraska team in No. 3 Minatare (21-2).
The only other western Nebraska teams competing will be in Class B where No. 3 Sidney and No. 6 Scottsbluff face off against each other in the opening round.     
Finals on NET
All six classes of the boys’ state finals at Lincoln’s Pinnacle Bank Arena will be broadcast live on NET Television Saturday.    
Game times listed below are Mountain Time.
The day’s coverage will begin at 8 a.m. with the Class D-1 finals followed by the Class C-1 championship at 10 a.m. and the Class B title game at 12 noon.  
After a break, the match-ups continue at 3:30 p.m. with the Class D-2 game, followed at 5:30 p.m. by the Class A final. The Class C-2 championship concludes the day’s action at 7:30 p.m.  
Calling the action all day will be sportscasters Larry Punteney, Andy Markowski and Andy Kendeigh.
