Track teams are 66 strong PDF Print E-mail

Recent weather has certainly felt like it’s time for track season. Members of the high school girls’ team are into their second week of practice this week after starting March 2. Last Friday, a few of the middle distance runners and others, above, were getting some work in at the football field. New girls’ head coach this season, Troy Hauxwell, reports there are 31 girls on the 2015 Lady Longhorn roster, while Boys’ Head Coach Carl Zuege has 35 out this season. After a week longer basketball season, some on the boys’ team started practice last Thursday with the full squad reporting on Monday this week. Below, Asst. Coach Bob Holman works with a group of Longhorns that were doing some sprint work on the grassy infield. Chase County will be traveling to a different opening meet this season. Instead of the Cambridge Invitational for its opener, the Longhorn teams will be in Grant on Thursday, March 26 for a triangular hosted by Perkins County that will also include the Dundy County/Stratton teams. Chase County’s home meet this year is set for Tuesday, April 21. More on the 2015 track season will be in upcoming issues this month. (Republican photos)
