About 100 registrations are already in for the 2015 spring soccer program in Imperial.
League Coordinator Bruce Peterson said that’s around half of the number in last year’s program, so he expects a lot of them to come in this week and next.
Feb. 27 is the deadline for the $30 per-player fee. After that, the fee increases by $15.
The city’s program takes into consideration larger families. The registration fee is $30 per child for the first two children then drops to $20 for the third, fourth, fifth, etc. children, Peterson noted.
Registrations can be picked up at the city offices or the Chase County Schools office. Forms should be returned to the city offices.
Team practices will start mid-March, with Saturday games getting underway the end of March or early April, he said.
Youths who will be playing on the U14 and U19 teams, which travel to other communities for games, will need to adhere to the early Feb. 27 deadline as much as possible, Peterson said.
That’s because the Great Plains League in which the traveling teams play needs to have team numbers for scheduling. It’s harder to add youths to those older teams who sign up after the deadline, Peterson said.
Youths younger than the U14 and U19 teams will play all of their games in Imperial.
For those playing in town, the $30 fee also includes their team shirt and socks.
Summer baseball, softball
In about a month, registration forms will be out for the summer baseball and softball teams in Imperial.
Peterson expects registration to open in mid-March.
