Fire weather workshop will help make prescribed burns successful PDF Print E-mail

Landowners can learn how weather impacts the success of prescribed fires at upcoming workshops in Nebraska, one of which will be in North Platte.
National Weather Service meteorologists will discuss elements of fire weather, how to obtain a fire weather forecast, how to monitor weather during a prescribed fire and an introduction to weather-monitoring devices.
The workshop in North Platte will be Feb. 10 at Wild Bill’s Wings and Bowling, 1100 S. Jeffers St., North Platte, starting at 6 p.m. CT.
Others are scheduled for Feb. 11 in Broken Bow and March 12 in Beatrice.
These workshops are geared to anyone interested in conducting or participating in a prescribed fire. The registration fee is $10. To register, visit
