State qualiﬁers emerge from District FFA competition

Imperial FFA scored several victories at District CDE (Career Development Events) contests at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis Nov. 12.
The Imperial FFA Agriscience team took top honors and will attend state competition next spring. The team consists of Kayla Schilke, Emma Ferguson, Amber Stumpf and Lauren Prior.
Advisor Jeremy Vlasin noted that Agriscience is not a state qualifying competition, “so we can take a team to state in that competition regardless.”
Hayley Vitosh was the individual District Champion in Agriscience. Other individuals placing were Prior in second place, Schilke in third place, Ryelee Christensen in fifth place, Ferguson in sixth place, Stumpf in eighth place and Brady Gittlein in 10th place.
Imperial also had the fourth place Agriscience team with Vitosh, Christensen and Gittlein.
The Sr. Livestock Judging team took third place, qualifying for state in Lincoln in April. The team consisted of Jessica Hartman, Regan Gittlein, Darin Knobbe and Kevin Chavira.
Regan Gittlein took fourth place and Hartman 13th place in individual competition.
In the Jr. Livestock Judging division, Brady Gittlein was the sixth place individual overall, while Stevie Johnson came in seventh. Prior also captured a top 10 individual award with 10th place.
The chapter also had a team competing in Biotechnology. Coming in third and missing state competition by one spot were team members Mindy Castle, Shaylee Dorn, Joel DaMoude and Eric Chavira.
Individually, Castle placed fourth and DaMoude placed 12th.
More District CDE competition will be held this week.
