Due to the K-6 Christmas concert on Dec. 9, the CCS board of education’s regular meeting night, the board voted to move its meeting this month one day earlier.
The December meeting will be held Monday night beginning at 6 p.m. in the board room at the school.
The school board is also preparing for an on-site visit from the superintendent search team next Thursday, Dec. 11, that includes a full afternoon for input from the community followed by a 6 p.m. board work session.
Shari Becker with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) search team said, “There is definitely interest” in the superintendent’s position being vacated next spring by Supt. Brad Schoep-pey.
Applications are due early in January, she said, so she expects an influx of applications over the holidays.
She said the Chase County Schools’ job opening is posted on the NASB website and other venues, “and recruiting is underway.”
On Dec. 11, Becker said they want input from all of the community including parents, students and staff to help them in the search for a new school superintendent.
“This helps us know what the district is looking for and what is great about their community,” she said.
Here is the schedule Dec. 11 for input:
1 to 2 p.m. Administrators
2 to 2:30 p.m. High school students
2:30 to 3 p.m. Jr. high/middle school students
3 to 4 p.m. Classified staff
4 to 5 p.m. Certificated staff
5 to 6 p.m. Parents/community members
6 p.m. Board work session
