“A Treasure of Savings” represents the theme for the Imperial Chamber’s Shop at Home awareness campaign this year.
The Chamber will give away $1,250 in Chamber Bucks in five weekly drawings that begin this Friday.
Five lucky winners each week will win $50 in Chamber Bucks that can be used in Chamber businesses this holiday shopping season.
Two weeks ago, all Imperial postal boxholders received “A Treasure of Savings!” coupon book.
The coupons feature a variety of offers from local businesses. These coupons can also be deposited at the participating Chamber businesses within the book in order to be registered for the weekly drawings.
Coupons not drawn will remain eligible for each drawing, along with new entries received that week.
The five weeks of drawings begin Friday and will continue each week through Dec. 19. Winners will be notified by  Chamber President Merrilyn Leibbrandt. Chamber Bucks can be picked up at her store, Fine Things Jewelry and Gifts.
Imperial Gem still in hiding
As part of the treasure theme, the Chamber is conducting its own treasure hunt for a replica gem hidden somewhere in Imperial.
The “Quest for the Imperial Gem” began six weeks ago and despite the efforts of many frustrated treasure hunters, the gem still remains hidden.
Jana  Pribbeno, organizer of the Chamber’s treasure hunt, said the interest in the hunt has been remarkable.
She said it’s become the talk at coffee clubs, work environments and other places. Just where is the gem?
She said reports have been running wild as to where the gem may be located. She noted last week’s frigid temperatures didn’t stop people in their quest to find the gem.
Clues for the hunt have been published weekly in The Imperial Republican. She said people come to the paper office Wednesday afternoon so they can pick up a paper hot off the press to get their next clue.
She said she’s had numerous calls and visits to see if the gem has been found. As a result, she is posting the daily status on the paper’s web site, www.imperialrepublican.com.
Rules for the hunt can also be found on the web site.
The Imperial Chamber is providing a $250 grand prize in the form of Chamber Bucks to the lucky person who finds and turns in the gem.
Christmas Festival Dec. 4
The Chamber’s annual Christmas Festival will be held Thursday, Dec. 4.
During the day, a number of Chamber businesses will offer cookies and refreshments for shoppers.
The day will conclude with a free soup and pie supper at the St. Patrick Parish Hall.
On Thanksgiving weekend, the Chamber will mail flyers outlining specials being offered for the event.
The flyer can also be used to register for Chamber drawings to be held during the soup and pie supper.
More details on the event will appear in next week’s paper.
