The 10th annual Vision of Trees at the Champion Community Center is just around the corner.
The two-day event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Champion Community Center.
Champion Junior Women’s Club and the Champion Community Center are busy making plans for the event, which serves as a fundraiser for the Champion community. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the Season.”
Every year groups and individuals decorate Christmas trees for the event. In addition to a forest of beautiful Christmas trees, attendees can enjoy good food and entertainment. A selection of music boxes will also be on display this year.
Cookies, bake sale items and crafts will be available for sale both days. Saturday will feature a potato bake and Sunday a homemade soup luncheon.
Entertainment will be provided both days. Saturday Marla Smith will perform at 11:30 a.m. Randy Hayes and the 9th Street Singers will perform at 1 p.m. The jolly man from the North Pole is set to steal the show with a visit scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Sunday’s entertainment will feature CCS physical education teacher Jodie Schuller and her tinkler students (cane dancers) at 1:30 p.m. and a performance by sixth grader Morayah Cupp at 2 p.m.
The weekend event will feature a silent auction and raffle items. Silent auction items are currently on display at the McNair Agency in Imperial.
This year’s raffle items include a Christmas tree with decorations by the Challengers 4-H Club; a wooden rocking dog by Jim Brown and Pat Baney; wooden outdoor furniture by Lloyd Hazard; a quilt by Rhonda Smith and Jean Farrer; and a vintage shelf by Betty Jo Goodell.
Raffle tickets are available for $1 each or 12 for $10. The raffle and silent auction will conclude at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Entrants need not be present to win.
