Weather affects bloodmobile PDF Print E-mail

Temperatures at zero or below discouraged some people from donating blood at the Chase County Schools Red Cross Bloodmobile Nov. 11. School Nurse Angie Paisley said 68 units were collected, while the goal was 90 units. She said she received 10 cancellations before 9 a.m. that day. There were seven new student donors and eight double red donors Paisley said. The bloodmobile is held by high school students three times a year, with the Red Cross making scholarship donations for graduating seniors. The bloodmobile’s theme was “Honor a veteran, donate a unit of blood and save some lives.” Above, Mark Berry, a veteran, gives blood. (Courtesy photo)
