Optimist money used for practice bunkers at area courses PDF Print E-mail

When the Imperial Optimist Club was originally formed, their mission was to help support and build junior golf. When the club dissolved, they allocated their remaining money to install practice bunkers at both the Imperial Country Club and the Enders Lake Golf Course. Butch Loring, club organizer, said the Imperial and Wauneta-Palisade golf teams were at a disadvantage when they played at other courses with a lot of sand. As a result, the idea was to install a practice bunker at each course so the golfers could practice their sand game. At top, Rick Jones dumps sand into the new trap at Enders while Jake Jones directs him. Below, Loring and Jones work the new sand into place. The bunker in Imperial has already been completed.  (Courtesy photos)
