MCC’s ‘The Guys’ helps raise more than $4,000 for McCook fire department PDF Print E-mail

Thursday night’s presentation of the special 9/11-themed play “The Guys”—staged by the McCook Community College Theater Department—helped raise $4,244 for the McCook City and Volunteer Fire Department.
MCC Theater Instructor Clay Grizzle said he hoped by offering free admission to the play and asking for donations, they could help raise enough funds (about $2,000) to pay for a new ventilation saw.
With the success of the play and the overwhelming support from those who attended the play and donated money, fire department officials can now buy two new K-12 ventilation saws and blades with state-of-the art cutting technology. These saws are typically used to cut holes in a roof to allow smoke to escape and can also be used in the rescue operations.
“It was just a great night, and a little overwhelming. We were so happy we could help raise a little money for such a great cause and it’s nice to see the community recognize and support the job our fire department does,” Grizzle said.
The McCook Theater Department will return to the Fox this winter for the production of “A Christmas Carol.” Auditions are set for Oct. 5.
