Rev. Todd Burpo of Imperial was among 51 ministers from the United States to visit Israel in early August.
He will share the experiences of his whirlwind three-day trip to the country during a presentation Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Pastors from each state and the District of Columbia were part of a solidarity delegation brought to the country by Christians United for Israel (CUFI).
The delegation met with ranking officials of the government and military during their brief stay in the country.
CUFI Executive Director David Brog told the Times of Israel the idea for the solidarity mission came together quickly after “a tremendous outpouring of desire to do something.”
The group of pastors represent the thousands of Christian supporters of Israel in their communities back home,” Brog explained. “We thought it was important to demonstrate even in the middle of a war that we stand with Israel.”
Israel finds itself locked in a war with Hamas. In late July, the U.S. instituted a brief ban on all U.S. flights into Tel Aviv due to security concerns from rocket attacks.
Hamas is an Islamic organization that seeks to liberate Palestine, including modern-day Israel, from Israeli occupation and to establish an Islamic state in the area that is now Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
