Dr. Jonathan Richman has been nominated by the Chase County Community Hospital (CCCH) staff for the Caring Kind Award. The winners of the award will be honored at the Nebraska Hospital Association’s 2014 convention at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln Oct. 24.
Dr. Richman has practiced medicine for 11 1/2 years at CCCH. His letter of recommendation comments on the fact that physicians in rural medicine learn to always expect the unexpected, and that’s what the doctor does.
“From welcoming a newborn into our facility, managing a critical trauma or emergency, to caring for those at the end of life he devotes his expertise,” the recommendation reads.
“As the only full time doctor at our facility, his knowledge is relied on 24 hours a day, seven days a week by mid-level providers as well as nursing and ancillary staff.”
It was noted that Dr. Richman is an active member of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department and dive/rescue team and works with high school students on SCUBA training.
In addition, he mentors visiting medical students, is the medical director for the Chase County EMS teams, hospital and nursing home, and is the Chief of Staff at CCCH.
Dr. Richman said he was surprised by being named CCCH’s Caring Kind Award winner.
