The fourth annual Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) MobilePack™ event in Imperial begins today (Thursday) and runs through Saturday.
The event is being held at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church, 1710 Wesley Drive, and is sponsored by Southwest Nebraska Meals for God’s Children (SNMGC).
There are two two-hour shifts today, five shifts Friday, including a Midnight Madness session from 10-12 midnight, and three more Saturday.
Organizer Dick Banks said they can use volunteers anytime throughout the event.
Volunteers can sign up online or just walk in. To sign up online, go to www.fmsc.org. Under the MobilePack menu, click on MobilePack Events. From there, scroll down to the Nebraska events. Click on Imperial’s “Get Involved” link and then click on the “Donate” or “Volunteer to Pack” links.
During the event, volunteers will pack more than 272,000 meals for hungry kids around the world.
Banks noted he cost for one box of meals that will provide 216 meals to hungry children is $47.52. They have set a goal of $60,000 to cover the expense for this year’s meals.
