It’s time to be discovered if you have a musical or other act that you’d like to perform at the Chase County Fair.
The Country Showdown is scheduled for Aug. 14 at 1 p.m., sponsored by KOGA Clear Channel Radio and Fine Things Jewelry and Gifts.
John Brandt of KOGA said “anything country” will be eligible for entry. He hopes to have 10 performers.
Registration by Aug. 1 is $20 by calling (800) 658-4445.
The talent show affiliates with the 33rd annual Country Showdown.
Each year more than 50,000 artists compete throughout the nation, with past winners such as Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Local prizes will be awarded to the top three acts.
The winner will be eligible to perform at the Nebraska State Fair Aug. 23 in Grand Island, where the winner is awarded $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in one of five regional events.
Regional winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to the national final in Nashville to compete for $100,000 and the title “Best New Act in Country Music.”
There is no age limit for the  local talent search. Vocal and/or instrumental performers can compete individually or in groups of up to seven members.
