|Hometown girl wins big|
Imperial’s own Josie Peterson, 14, a Chase County Schools sophomore, put her hometown on the map last week after winning the girls age 13-14 division in the National Pitch, Hit and Run (PHR) competition sponsored by Scotts. She competed during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game activities at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis. Josie, the daughter of Bruce and Crystal Peterson, advanced to nationals after winning the local contest sponsored by Imperial Jaycees in May, then capturing first in the sectionals and, finally, the team championships at Coors Field in Denver. She is one of just five youths from Nebraska to compete at the national PHR competition since 1997.
