Lori Beard and Cindy Roesener have walked their way to health in a big way. They took the top individual and team results during the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department’s (SWNPHD) 11th annual Walk to Health, which concluded June 28.
The program lasted for 12 weeks and included 388 residents of all ages in the SWNPHD eight-county service area.
Beard not only lost the most weight, 25 pounds, but lost the most inches—19.5. Adrianna Hagan of McCook walked the most minutes, with 13,470.
The team of Beard and Roesener lost the most inches, 12.75 average, and also lost the most weight—16.5 pounds average.
ADH Photography of McCook took top honors in the most minutes walked by a team, with an average of 8,815 minutes.
“This program was created by our staff to encourage residents to become more active and sustain a higher level of activity,” said Myra Stoney, Director of SWNPHD.
“We have seen excellent results of 1998.5 pounds lost, 145.3 inches lost and 444,490 minutes were walked through Walk to Health.”
