Chase County grad named director of dental hygiene program at Colby PDF Print E-mail
Bobette Maier, the former Bobette Wood of Imperial, was recently named director of the dental hygiene program at Colby (Kan.) Community College.
Maier has been a full-time instructor at CCC for three years, teaching and supervising students in the dental hygiene clinic.
She will replace Becky Vollertsen, who is retiring this month.
Maier is a graduate of the dental hygienist program at the University of South Dakota, after earning a dental assistant associate’s degree from Mid-Plains Community College.
After college graduation, she worked for Dr. Randy Nordstrom in Colby for 17 years.
Maier said she became interested in the profession when she was a junior at Chase County High School and worked with a dental hygienist here.
According to a college press release, CCC has a 100 percent placement rate for its graduates, and the dental hygiene program is nationally-accredited. Lectures are reinforced with labs and clinics on the Colby campus.
Bobette and husband, Jody, have two children, Ethan, who is nine, and Emma Kate, seven. She is the daughter of Keith and Barbara Wood of Imperial.
