|2008 Farm Bill information meetings set for June|
Information about the 2008 Farm Bill sign-up will be presented at meetings in the Southwest 4 Nebraska counties.
Meeting locations and times are:
June 8—7 p.m. in Benkelman, FSA office.
June 9—1 p.m. in Hayes Center, 4-H building, Fairgrounds.
June 16—7 p.m. in Imperial, 4-H Building, Fairgrounds.
The local FSA offices and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension are sponsoring the meeting series, and will present the most up-to-date information available.
Presenters will include Brian Strauch and Robert Tigner, UNL Extension Educators, and Teri Moss, Chase County FSA director.
The new revenue component known as the Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) program will be the main topic of discussion. Producers and landowners should seriously consider the benefits from the ACRE program. The ACRE program is designed to make payments when the state experiences crop revenue losses. In years of revenue losses, producers could receive significant payments under the ACRE program compared to counter-cyclical program.
The meetings are intended to assist landowners and operators in their decisions whether to enroll in the new ACRE program or stay with the current DCP. UNL Extension Educators will discuss revenue features of the ACRE program.
A decision tool and scenarios will be presented to show possible revenue and payments under ACRE. A brief discussion of the SURE disaster program will be included.
Meetings will last approximately two hours. For more information contact Robert Tigner (308) 882-4731, Brian Strauch (308) 345-3390 or the Chase County FSA office (308) 882-4263.
