Coaches honored at athletic banquet PDF Print E-mail

A couple of coaches at Chase County Schools were in the spotlight Sunday as the school and community celebrated the past year of athletics and cheerleading at the annual Athletic Awards Banquet. Above, Coach Al Zuege, who is retiring this year after 27 years at CCS and 40 years overall in education, tells one of his famous stories, which drew laughs from the crowd, including this group of girls, below from left, Megan Engbrecht, Taylin McNair, Kym Rowley, Alyssa Moreno and Emma Engbrecht. A.D. Troy Hauxwell said Zuege will be sorely missed at the school, noting many of the behind-the-scenes work he puts in at the track facility and in the school. Above, right, Head Volleyball Coach Jodie Schuller, at left, gave Asst. Coach Angie Dickey 300 cans of Pepsi recognizing the milestone of reaching the pinnacle of 300 volleyball varsity wins the past season. Dickey favors Pepsi, while Schuller likes Coke. The school board recently accepted Asst. Coach Dickey’s resignation from the position after 17 years of coaching. (Republican photos)
