Young baseball players eight years old through junior Legion age have the opportunity to take part in a baseball fundamentals camp, May 22-23 in Imperial.
The clinic will be conducted by members of the Imperial Crush wood bat baseball team, which is entering its second season of play this summer. Other coaches in the community and volunteers will also assist.
The camp will be divided into two age groups: age 8-11 and age 12 and older. Both camps will meet at Campbell Park field.
The first day of camp will be an instructional day and will include information on proper stretching, hitting, pitching, catching, base-running and fielding drills.
Part of the camp’s second day will be devoted to more instruction, and then a game will be played with campers split into separate teams.
All players, no matter what their skill level is, are encouraged to take part.
Registrations will be taken until the morning of the camps, but organizers would like them in as soon as possible.
Cost to attend the two-day camp is $25. Registration forms are available at the school or The Imperial Republican office.
Scott Way and Darrin Schultz are coordinating the camp. Questions can be directed to Way at 308-882-1686 or by email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
All campers will receive a T-shirt as part of their registration fee.
