Shorthorn girls second, third at Perkins County PDF Print E-mail

Chase County took second in the seventh grade girls’ division and third in eighth grade at last Thursday’s Perkins County Track Invitational.
Several Shorthorn athletes in both divisions came home with ribbons by placing in the top eight.
The only individual first came from Kaley Hauxwell, who won the 1600.
Team scoring in the eighth grade division was Wray 140, Creek Valley 93, Chase County 89, Sedgwick County 85, Haxtun 60, Perkins County 42 and Garden County 36.
Here are the CCS place-winners in the eighth grade division.
100 meters—8, Giovanna Welsh 16.49.
400 meters—6, Kaley Hauxwell 1:13.23; 7, Lauren Gockley 1:15.61.
800 meters—2, Kaley Hauxwell 2:55.22; 4, Kayla Schilke 3:05.74; 7, Nikki Brown-Cravey 3:22.91.
1600 meters—1, Kaley Hauxwell 6:08.03; 5, Kayla Schilke 6:44.79; 7, Nikki Brown-Cravey 7:24.16.
4x100 relay—5, CCS (Madison Elliot, Whitney Hopp, Sydney Vetter, Ansley Wood) 1:06.59.
4x400 relay—4, CCS (Kaley Hauxwell, Kayla Schilke, Lauren Gockley, Nikki Brown-Cravey) 5:24.91.
Shot put-6 lb.—3, Sydney Vetter 28-09.75; 5, Whitney Hopp 27-01.50; 6, Ansley Wood 26-05.00.
Discus-1kg—2, Ansley Wood 74-00; 4, Sydney Vetter 71-09.
High jump—3, Ryelee Christensen 3-08.
Long jump—2, Lauren Gockley 11-07.25; 6, Ryelee Christensen 10-10.00.
Seventh grade
In Chase County’s seventh grade division, firsts were captured by Taylor Williams in the high jump, 100 and 200; and Allison Owings in the shot and discus.
Seventh grade team scoring was Wray 129, Chase County 101, Creek Valley 73, Haxtun 69, Sedgwick County 65, Perkins County 59 and Garden County 25.
Here are the CCS place-winners in the seventh grade division.
100 meters—1, Taylor Williams 14.20; 2, Adelaide Maxwell 14.25.
200 meters—1, Taylor Williams 29.36; 3, Adelaide Maxwell 31.21.
800 meters—6, Macy Coleman 3:19.15.
1600 meters—2, Macy Coleman 7:04.80.
195 meter hurdles—4, Macy Coleman 41.91.
4x100 meter relay—3, CCS (Taylor Williams, Megan Baird, Allison Owings, Adelaide Maxwell) 1:00.09.
4x400 relay—6, CCS (Macy Coleman, Hannaleigh Dubas, Megan Baird, Allison Owings) 5:48.49.

On Wednesday this week, the CCS girls were in Sutherland for a meet.
Next Thursday, May 1, Chase County will host its home invitational starting at 9 a.m.
