Seven members of the Chase County Schools Family, Career and Community Leaders (FCCLA) chapter attended the state convention in Lincoln April 7.
The chapter, under the direction of Family Consumer Science teacher Cathy Hanna, was given a gold chapter award. The award is given to those chapters who apply for it, attend leadership conferences and submit articles to the FCCLA magazine, among other requirements, Hanna said.
Three of the members were awarded silver medals in the junior division. Macy Coleman’s Environmental Ambassador project was  titled “How My Town Recycles;” Abigail Almanza’s speech on diabetes was under the Health and Wellness category, and Hayley Vitosh’s speech “An Eye Opening Experience” received a silver in the Illustrated Talk category.
Jade Allen was the recipient of the Power of One award. To earn that, she had to set a goal in five areas and work to achieve that goal.
Also attending the conference were Tagan Mays, Jasmine Dannar and Whitney Hopp.
