The first track meet of the season is in the history books for the Chase County junior high girls’ track team.
The team traveled to Benkelman last Thursday for the Dundy County/Stratton meet, where the top eight in each seventh and eighth grade division came home with ribbons.
No team scores were tabulated.
In the seventh grade meet, Chase County’s Allison Owings set a new meet record with a shot put toss of 33’-8” and eclipsed all others in the event. She also won the discus.
In the eighth grade meet, Peyton Fiedler had three of Chase County’s four firsts as she won the pole vault, 200 and 400 individual events.
This week, the junior high girls travel to Grant for the Perkins County Invitational. It has an 8:30 a.m. start time.
