It was a hectic but happy Friday at Chase County Schools last week, as the annual Kindergarten Roundup was in full swing.
Fifty-five prospective students participated in the roundup, held between 8:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. The 2013-14 kindergarten students didn’t have school Friday, so that the prospective students could fill their seats.
The youngsters were color-coded with red, green and blue to aide in their movement through three classrooms, lunch and recess.
They were met by teachers Jacci Paisley, Lisa Krutsinger and Arlys Cupp, who will also be teaching kindergarten next year.
A number of volunteers also helped with activities in the classrooms.
Elementary Principal Susie Stewart said there will be three kindergarten classrooms again next year. She noted that the number of prospective students compared to the actual number of kindergartners next fall is subject to a lot of change over the summer.
