Students in Chase County Schools’ elementary classes had a dream come true last Friday. They celebrated great fundraising for the American Heart Association by taping three educators to the wall.
Those duct-taped to the Longhorn gym bleachers were Mike Sorensen, 7-12 principal; fourth grade teacher Gregg Meyer; and sixth grade teacher Dennis Batterman.
They were asked by coordinator and K-6 physical education teacher Jodie Schuller to be good sports.
The students had set a goal to raise $10,000 in pledges during their Feb. 21 Jump for Heart jump-roping event. If they reached the goal, they reached for duct tape.
However, Schuller said more like $14,000 was raised.
Bringing in the most pledges was Morayah Cupp, along with Ed Cupp, to the tune of about $1,000.
Schuller also recognized the many volunteers who made the successful drive possible.
