The Western Nebraska Community College “Varsity Vocalize,” the college’s show choir, will visit Imperial April 3 during its spring tour.
The group will perform at 2 p.m. in the Chase County Schools (CCS) auditorium. Students as well as the public are welcome to attend free of charge. A concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium is also free to the public.
The two groups that make up the Varsity Vocalize have a repertoire that includes the best of Broadway, pop, swing, jazz and ageless favorites.
It is directed by Rita Smith Stinner, who is also Director of Choral Activities at the college.
One face will be familiar to Imperial residents. She is Breanna Krutsinger, a 2012 CCS graduate.
Varsity Vocalize has been featured in the Western Nebraska Performing Arts Series, at the United States Air Force Cadet Chapel, at Colorado Rockies baseball games, with the University of Wyoming Collegiate Chorale and Orchestra and with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra.
It will perform this May at New York’s Carnegie Hall under the baton of Nebraska Wesleyan University Conductor Dr. William Wyman.
While in Imperial the group will be staying overnight with host families.
