Seventy-five people signed up to donate blood at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile sponsored by students at Chase County Schools last week. A total of 68 good units were accepted during the event.
The goal was 90 units. School nurse Angie Paisley said it was a slow day for the Bloodmobile. However, three new donors were noted.
The Red Cross computer system malfunctioned during the day, causing four donors to be “lost” in the system.
The students sponsored three Bloodmobiles during the year. Their participating means that two of those students, Dan Sullivan and Blair Hartman, will each receive a scholarship from the Red Cross for organizing the event.
Those scholarships will be announced in May.
Paisley said a student-sponsored Bloodmobile will be held this summer.
