Broadway landmark comes down PDF Print E-mail

The corner of 8th and Broadway has a different look as the former St. Patrick Friendship Hall came down Monday, ironically on St. Patrick’s Day. The structure was built in 1952 as the Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren (EUB) Church, which in 1968, merged with Imperial’s First Methodist Church. The combined congregations were then known as the First United Methodist Church, and continued to hold services at the original Methodist church, now the Richman home, across the street. The former EUB church was purchased by St. Patrick’s in 1992 and used primarily for religious education and, most recently, as St. Isidore Gift & Thrift, which relocated to 527 Broadway last year. Once cleared, the space will be used for parish parking. Koellner Enterprises handled the demolition. (Republican photos)
