Imperial Manor gains 3-Star rating PDF Print E-mail

Imperial Manor has achieved success recently in being awarded a 3-Star Quality Rating by the U.S. government.          “The staff and administration, along with the mayor and city council, are extremely proud to accomplish this achievement,” said Manor Administrator Melissa Larson.
The highest rating a nursing home can earn is 5-Star. While the Manor and staff are happy with this increase to a 3-Star Rating, Larson said they are still shooting for the 5-Star.
All 16,000 nursing homes nation-wide are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 based on three critical areas:  health inspection results, quality measures and staffing levels. Created by the government, the ratings help assist consumers, their families and caregivers to compare different nursing homes.
Larson added, “We have set the 5-star Rating as a goal for our facility. While we strive to provide the highest quality care to our residents every day, this rating is validation that we are headed in the right direction.”
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) computes the 5-Star Ratings each month based on the most current survey data it receives for each facility.  This system is designed to promote transparency and accountability across the industry and assist consumers in making choices.
Under the CMS rating system, 5-Star equals “much above average”, 4-Star is “above average”, 3-Star is “average”, 2-Star equals “below average” and 1-Star is “much below average”.
The nursing homes in Wauneta and Grant share the same 3-Star rating, while the Sara Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman has  a 2-Star rating at this time, Larson noted.
Tammi Simpson, Imperial Manor Director of Nursing, regards the 3-Star rating as reflective of the hard work of her staff.
“We have an excellent team here at Imperial Manor.  They are truly dedicated to their profession and give the residents superior care each and every day,” Simpson said.
Established in 2008, the rankings represent federal criteria set by the CMS and are posted on the CMS Nursing Home Compare website.  Anyone can access the CMS website and view the ratings at Compare/.
