Castle attends science conference PDF Print E-mail

Mindy Castle, a junior at Chase County Schools, recently attended a Women in
Science Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, sponsored by Nebraska’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research.
She was one of 101 girls from Nebraska and Kansas, representing 29 high schools Feb. 21-22.
Students had an opportunity to meet female role models in science-related careers. Women scientists from UNL and industry volunteered to serve as panelists, give laboratory demonstrations and mentor conference participants.
The students heard from panels of successful female science faculty and women  scientists in the industry who described their career paths and how to prepare for a science career.
They also participated in science-related workshops with hands-on activities, and visited the UNL Beadle Center and St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center.
