February Students of Month named
The February Students of the Month at Chase County Schools are Cassandra Burpo and Curtis Laird. They will attend an Imperial Rotary luncheon.
Cassie Burpo, 17, is the daughter of Sonja and Todd Burpo. She is on the honor roll, is a member of National Honor Society, has been a teachers’ aide, is a school board representative and is on the student council.
The senior is a four-year member of FFA, serving as parliamentarian her junior and senior years. She has also been a member of Future Business Leaders of America four years, serving as parliamentarian two years and treasurer this year.
Burpo has participated in choir and musicals for four years, the one-act play for two years and the three-act play for one year.
She has played softball four years and served as wrestling manager for four years.
Burpo attends Crossroads Wesleyan Church and enjoys being with friends in her free time.
She plans to attend a Bible college after graduation, then transfer to a university to major in business.
Laird, 18, is the son of Angela Laird and Channing Laird. He is on the honor roll and has participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes for one year and band for one year.
The senior played football one year, baseball four years and will complete four years of golf this spring.
A member of Imperial United Methodist Church, he works at Imperial Country Ford and enjoys golf, hunting, fishing and being with friends in his spare time.
Laird plans to major in architecture in college upon graduating from high school.
