Two Republicans have filed for the Chase County Commissioner District No. 2 position, moving the race for the ticket to the primary.

Jodi K. Thompson filed for re-election to Commissioner District No. 2 Tuesday morning. David W. Hogsett of Champion also filed for the Commissioner District No. 2 seat Tuesday afternoon.

Both being Republicans, it assures a run-off at the May 13 Primary.

Two others have filed for county offices in the past week. Last Wednesday, incumbent Kevin E. Mueller filed for re-election as Sheriff and Cynthia S. Schoenberger filed Monday for re-election as Chase County Treasurer.

The majority of incumbents, anyone currently serving in any elective office, have until Feb. 18 to fileā€“even if they choose to run for a different office. New filers for most positions have an additional two weeks to file, until March 3.

However, incumbents filing for openings on the Wauneta Village Board, Lamar Village Board, Imperial Public Power District Board, Southwest Public Power District and the Educational Service Unit openings have until July 15 to file. New filers for these positions have until Aug. 1.
