Six students at Chase County Schools have been recognized as recipients of the fall season’s Academic All-State Award.
Selected students are nominated by their schools, based on individual academic excellence, leadership and contributions made to their sport or activity.
Chase County students and the areas in which they were recognized include Indy Smith, cross country; Anna Bauerle and Cassie Burpo, softball; Mindy Castle and Paige Spady, volleyball; and Sam Haarberg, football. Bauerle and Spady were also recognized for play production.
Here are the guidelines for selection:
Students must have a cumulative GPA in all curricular subjects of 9.3 percent of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.
Students must be a varsity player or organizational leader who has played a significant role on the team or in the activity.
High school students in grades 9-12 are eligible.
Schools are limited to nominating just two students for each activity or sport in that season. Academic All-State Awards are also given after the winter and spring activity seasons.
The Academic All-State Award is co-sponsored by the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association.
