She’s spent years on the stage or on the bus as speech and drama teacher at Chase County Schools. Now, English teacher Cathy Howard is retiring.
Howard obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Loretto Heights in Denver in 1961. She received a Masters degree in speech and theater from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1984.
Howard first taught English and speech at Sundance High School in Sundance, Wyo. for two years. She then taught the same at Bridgeport High School for two years.
In 1980 she moved to Imperial and began teaching speech and English. She has also been the one-act and three-act play coach, and speech team coach.
Howard declined to comment upon her academic career, the changes she’s seen over the years or her plans for the future.
