Two applications already in for police chief position PDF Print E-mail

After just a week of advertising in newspapers and on websites, Imperial’s vacant police chief job has two applicants, according to City Clerk/Administrator Jo Leyland.
Ads started running in last week’s Imperial Republican, and on statewide online job postings of the Law Enforcement Training Center and the League of Municipalities’ website and magazine.
Leyland said there has been no timeline set on hiring for the position vacated in October when former chief Rob Browning resigned.
“It will be advertised until filled,” she said Wednesday.
The police chief position is appointed by the mayor, and must have city council approval.
Leyland said it is her understanding that Mayor Dwight Coleman will conduct the applicant interviews and then present an appointment to the council.
