The Chase County Food Pantry was the recipient of $525.07 in groceries last Wednesday, thanks to some motivated shoppers and Pinnacle Bank.
The bank held a giveaway for two $100 Visa Gift Cards. The winners of those cards, Deb Bartlett and Cheryl Swanson, also had the opportunity to shop, along with two food pantry representatives, for food for the pantry.
Bartlett was paired with DeMarys Cooper at Hills Family Foods. Swanson was paired with Jacci Brown at Imperial Super Foods.
Each set of shoppers was given two minutes last Wednesday to fill a cart. Some items, such as beauty aides, were not allowed.
In addition, the shoppers were limited to three items of each food, such as bags of potatoes or tomato soup. They could pick out five meats.
Bartlett said her selections were based upon Cooper’s familiarity with the food pantry and what items were needed.
Asked if she had a strategy for picking items, Brown laughed that she had none, just as she had none in her life.
All of the food picked by the four shoppers was taken immediately to the food pantry, which is located in the city building.
This is the second year Pinnacle Bank has sponsored the event, according to Angie Worth and Lori Beard, who represented the bank at the shopping spree.
