It’s getting busy, and parents and other school patrons will have three nights of concerts this month celebrating the Christmas season at Chase County Schools.
K-6 students will kick off the series on Tuesday, Dec. 10, when their segmented concert will feature individual mini concerts throughout the evening starting at 6 p.m.
K-6 Director is Jodie Liess.
The kindergarten class will be on stage first at 6 p.m. when they sing “Come Little Children,” “Ding Dong, Mister Frosty Winter” and “Snow Cow.”
The grade 1-2 classes will be on at 6:30 p.m. when they perform “A Beary Merry Holiday.” Students will all depict bears anticipating arrival of the pandas. One of their featured songs is a “rap” version of “Jingle Bells.”
On stage next will be grades 3-4 and their version of “The Nutcracker.” All students will be featured as characters in the popular ballet, wearing costumes purchased by the local Pom Poms organization, Liess noted. Fourth graders Jordan Jablonski as Clara and Lucy Spady, who sings a solo in the Arabian dance, will be featured.
Students in grades 5-6 will be traveling back in time to the 1950s. Valerie Herbert is owner of a soda shop the students visit.
Songs in their repertoire include “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” “Frosty Hand Jive,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Jingle Bells Rock,” “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” and more. Gabrielle Krutsinger will be a featured soloist.
Director Liess said the audience may come to the program when they wish and leave following a specific grade’s concert.
There will be time between each program for parents to pick up their children, she said.
Grade 7-12

Due to the state qualification of Chase County Schools’ one-act play which performs next week, other school concerts were altered as follows.
The grade 9-12 combined choir and band concert is now scheduled for Monday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m.
A combined grade 7-8 choir and grade 5-8 band concert will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, starting at 6:30 p.m.
All concerts will be in the school auditorium.
