Deer numbers running strong PDF Print E-mail

From the looks of some of the deer being taken by area hunters, the 2013 Nebraska firearm season will be a good one. Two of the successful hunters from Imperial bagging their deer on opening day Saturday were Jack Mandeville, left, with this 7 x 6 mule that had a 24-inch spread, and Kathy Pankonin, who brought in this 12 x 9 whitetail. Ron Schoenberger of Laker’s, an official Game & Parks check-in station in Enders, said 300 deer had been checked in by mid-afternoon Tuesday, 129 of which were bagged on the first day of the season. That four-day total compares with 302 at this time last year. (Photos courtesy of Laker’s)
