Practice for high school basketball team just started Monday, but the boys’ and girls’ teams from Chase County will already be on the court Tuesday, Nov. 26.
As in the past several years, the Longhorn teams are playing a pair of exhibition games against Hitchcock County, with proceeds benefitting the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame Foundation.
Games will be played at Trenton starting with the girls’ contest at 5 p.m. MT, followed by the boys’ game.
According to Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) rules, results of these exhibition games will not be counted into the school’s regular season record or toward a school’s wild-card-point averages.
Chase County’s head basketball coaches, Carl Zuege and Nancy Sorensen, both report rosters of 24 players this season.
CCS Activities Director Troy Hauxwell indicated this is likely the last season Chase County will play these early exhibition games.
Chase County’s first regular season games are set for Thursday, Dec. 5, when the teams travel to Cozad. The Chase County squads will host McCook on Friday, Dec. 6.
