Blood donations can help bring hope during holidays

The holiday season is very special for those people who have received the gift of blood from the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Many of those people will be celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas due to those blood transfusions.
Imperial area residents will have the opportunity to give the gift of blood at the Chase County Schools Bloodmobile Nov. 21. The Bloodmobile will be held in the school gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
School Nurse Angie Paisley said the goal is 90 units. She said, “It is therefore very important to make an appointment.” You can do so by calling Paisley at (308) 882-4304.
Paisley said if persons are O-negative, A-negative or B-negative, or O positive, they can give double red cells, which count as two units.
This is the first of three Bloodmobiles students sponsor at the school.
The Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood. It is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
